This Hidden Gem which opened in 2009 was designed by David McLay Kidd.  Scottish Course Designer Kidd whose other recent masterpieces include The St Andrews Castle Course, Bandon Dunes, and Cabot Cliffs the number 1 course in Canada.  Mclay is renowned for creating some of the world’s most natural, wild, and dramatic looking golf courses. Other than the tee blocks and greens.  The vast majority of Machrihanish, such as the sand dunes, have been created by nature itself and the Scottish weather!

Built on once protected land discovered by Golf Legend Old Tom Morris more than 125 years ago.   McLay turns the clock back to allows modern-day golfers to use their imagination to hit golf shots that are no longer required in the modern game.  Experience pure links golf in the most natural and exhilarating setting.  You will be required to think your way around the course.  Plan your attack, use your creativity, and enjoy the experience.

At Machranish there are 2 courses.  The old Championship course which once hosted its own open and the new Dunes.
